Outside my
window...
the
birds are singing and the sky is overcast. Boudreaux, our wonder
cat, is perched on the window sill watching the great outdoors and
daydreaming.
I am
thinking...
of
a wonderful friend who ran a 5K this past week-end. I am so proud of
Tanya. She sets goals and works to meet them. I cannot imagine
willingly running a 5K. That is definitely not my cup of tea---and
yet, I need to set and meet some goals to improve my physical health.
I am
thankful...
for
the love and support of friends. Boo and I are so fortunate to have
such supportive and zany friends. It's certainly good to have
friends that will listen, but today I'm especially thankful for those
that laugh with us.
In the
kitchen...
I
will be making a vegetable soup and sausage cheese cornbread for
supper.
I am
wearing...
comfy,
at home clothes: gray sweat pants, a blue sweat shirt that belonged
to my father and black clogs.
I am
creating...
embellished
photos to decoupage, maybe using a distressed technique that sounds
interesting. I'm only on the embellishing part right now. Perhaps
I'll be ready to decoupage next week.
I am
going...
to
begin using the SOAP method for Bible study for Boo and myself.
We're going to try it for a month and evaluate.
I am
wondering...
how
to cut my hair. Men are so lucky in the hair department. I've never
known any male to obsess about how to cut his hair. Men do sometimes
obsess about the lack of hair, but that's a different issue.
I am
reading...
Goffine's
Devout Instruction, by Rev.
Leonard Goffine; How I Roll: Life, work and love after a
spinal cord injury, by J. Bryant
Neville and The Wind in the Willows, by
Kenneth Grahame.
I
am hoping...
to organize and redecorate our bedroom. I'd like to
make it more user friendly for Boo so that it he can be more
independent.
I
am looking forward to...
talking
to Kathy later on this evening. It's always good to talk to someone
who knew me waaaaay
back when miniskirts and bell bottoms were in style.
I
am learning...
how
to use a “new to me” photo editing program. There is a big
learning curve for me. I am used to the point and click type
program. I WILL learn to use this program.
Around
the house...
the living room is waiting to be cleaned---swept,
dusted, mopped and straightened. OK, not in that order!
I
am pondering...
the upcoming elections. Boo has been very vocal about
the issues and we've had some really deep discussions.
A
favorite quote for today...
“The difference between school and life? In school,
you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given
a test that teaches you a lesson.” Tom Bodett
One
of my favorite things...
cuddling with my husband and my cat. OK, that's two,
but I often cuddle both at the same time. So, that counts as one,
right?
A
few plans for the rest of the week...
Do the laundry. Change the bed linens. Work on ways
to help Boo be more comfortable going out in public. We need to find
ways to desensitize him to bright lights and unusual noises. Then,
we also need to review his reorientation skills---for those times
when he becomes disoriented and confused in public.
A
peek into my day...
Special
Note...
I
encourage you to examine Peggy Hostetler's website, A
Simple Woman's Daybook,
for other daybook entries or for information on posting your own
daybook entry. http://thesimplewomansdaybook.blogspot.com/
Love the Daylily. I'm hoping mine are pretty, we planted new bulbs and they're just popping out of the ground.
ReplyDeleteLove that quote!
I'm wanting Honey Bear and me to find some compatible friends to spend time with.
Mama Bear
Love the photo, and the quote. So true. Sometimes the only way we learn is to go through a situation.
ReplyDeleteSo you are reading "The Wind in the Willows!" I read that so many times in my childhood. I should get it and reread it ....
I admire your positive attitude. Your cornbread sounds yummy. Will you be posting a recipe? Happy May Day!
ReplyDeleteGreat quote! I love what you said about hair and men, I had to laugh! Thanks for sharing your daybook, I really enjoyed it. God bless and have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteI am really not sure how to respond to individual comments. I'm trying to become more computer savy, but it seems to be slow going. Thank you everyone for the very kind comments. They brightened my day! Reecea, I did post my Company's Coming Cornbread recipe. I hope everyone's had a great week!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post, especially the part about the hair-cutting.
ReplyDeleteReally like your cat photo too. I wouldn't have a clue about decoupage--how to do it.
